Nowadays with increasing globalization doing businesses require business people to understand the culture norms in other countries. The different culture norms and ways of communication has been increasingly important in the business world since they have great impacts on customer service and communication with customers as well as communication between staff in a company or organization. In this paper we will interview an American living in Auckland named A. Since the set of questions we will ask are designed to investigate how cultural expectations and cultural norms affect communications with customers as well as communication among staffs, we decided to start with asking the basic information about the American friend A. These include his nationality, the time he had been staying for Auckland, the preference of his clothing choices, and his payment method. Then, the further questions will ask about the culture of the country that A lives in and how it affects communication and customer service.

3. What clothes do you normally wear?
4. What color/style/material do you like?
5. How do you pay for the clothes?
6. Do customers usually pay by cash or cards?
7. If you want to buy clothes in a country that you do not speak that language, how would you communicate with staff in that clothes store?
8. Are there any traditional clothes in your country? What does it look like?
9. Does your country have a lot of fashionable clothes shows?
10. Are there any pictures taboos that cannot be printed on clothes?
11. How many seasons in your country?
12. Do people wear different clothes in different season?

According to the interviews with A, he said that he was born in America and have been in Auckland for more than 10 years. He usually wears T-shirts and pants with mostly black and white color and cotton material. He likes sportswear and ordinary clothes with fair price brands. He paid for his clothes by himself absolutely and he usually pays by credit cards. Given the scenario that he is in a country that he does not speak that language, he responded that he may communicates with the staffs in the clothing store through basic gestures. For example, he will point at the cloth that he would like to try on or purchase, and ask for the size he wears by using gestures or typing words in his phone. Then, after trying it on and it suited well, he will take out his card in expression of further payment. He believes that simple common gestures can be understood by people from all over the world, and that people can communicate and understand each other with no use of language. There are not many traditional clothes in his country since they do not have a long history and culture, but his country does have a lot of fashionable clothes shows. There are not any pictures taboos that cannot be absolutely printed on clothes since it is an open society but pictures about racisms are greatly discouraged. There are four seasons in his country. People wear similar clothes in Spring and Autumn, different clothes in Summer and Winter. He though that customer service is similar in Auckland and New Zealand. There are discounts in several holidays and the most discounts takes place on the Black Friday. He hadn’t worked in his country yet, but he knew that fashion is really important in his culture. To sum up, he thought that his cultural norm influence the communication and customer service in a way that he is open in communication and the way he communicate influence the customer service and he can accepts different kinds of customer service.
