Abstract
How is the general evolution of one country’s education system and how does it in related to economic progress? I explore this issue by studying the changes in education system in China during the late 19th till recent. Despite of the arduous process, the evident economic development of China has drew a new picture for the local people to access to general education, which encourage them to become more open-minded and step up to further self-improvement. Such economic elements generate persistent and profound impacts on educational development. Using records on circumstances of education and socioeconomic indicators across the time, I find a delicate connection between the economic growth and reforms of education. To better understand if the relationship is causal, I review papers on China’s educational reforms. Through further investigate the casual channels between education and economy, I find that though economy brings forwards education system by varied means, current education system in China still has its drawback.
