出版商的这篇文章是以一个政治新闻为主要目的，通过列举一系列的事迹进行了反对党在选举中的投票。与当前的新闻相比，我认为它是一个以完全不同的方式来说服读者应该做什么。而现在，报纸报道的内容通常集中在该党可以给公众带来多少利益，而不是对对方的反对党已经完成了对社会的影响的多少。

This article clearly voices its disagreement on Sedition Act by calling it “offensive and tyrannical” and also it’s an attack on Federalist Party by saying in the last paragraph that “can any honest and enlightened citizens be found, that will give their votes to support a party that abused the power for much they had it, ...” 

 From the last paragraph we know that the publisher of this article is a polical press and the main purpose of the ariticle is to ask for votes in the election by listing a series of deeds conducted by the opposing party. Compared with current journalism, I think it’s a totally different way of convining the readers what they should do. Nowadays, newspapers normally focused on how much benefit the party can bring the public rather than how much bad influence the opposing party has done to the society. Besides, it also has more partisanship tone. It seems the article has very objective tone but as a matter of fact, it has very partisanship tone. And it has already set the tone for the readers by using words like “offensive” and “tyrannical” . Before the readers have time to think for themselves, it has told them that all the listed acts are bad. I also think this article is too aggressive and a little rude when it indicates that any enlightened and honest citizens wouldn’t vote for Federalist Party. A party must has its supporters and it’s very offensive to call the counter-party supporters as inhonest and unenlightened. To me, I selfom read modern-time newpapers choose those offensive words.

I agree with you that this article is to support anti-Federalist cause and warns the public especially farmers not be manipulated by Federalist Party. It’s also the case that the article deprives the readers’  of their own judgement by focusing on telling them what to believe and what is right. But compared with currenct journalism, what has impressed me most is not its abrasive tone, it is the use of religious metaphor like “In God’s government, man are not to blaspheme”. It intends to seek resonance among the devoters since farmers are not so well-informed in politics in some degree. They are more likely to believe what they have learnt from the Bible. In modern newspapers, religious element is rare since the country enougrages the freedom of one’s belief and peoples are more and more diversified in a country.
