As the age of big data is coming, companies spend more and more on IT budget. Nowadays, information technology is extensively used in many fields, so IT departments play an important role in most companies. IT expense, as one of the total cost, has an important affect for company development.

In our company, information technology is used in many projects. We collect amounts of customers’ information from their mobile devices, which can provide us huge data to set up our data base. By analyzing these data, we can easily know consumer’s need, we could know what they want, how they purchase them, then we could make proper decisions to improve our products and services. We also used cloud storage to store and share some our company’s documents. Although the cloud storage isn’t as safe as traditional storages devices, it is much more convenient and it cost a little, and it improves working efficiency a lot.

Economic crisis has influencing IT market a lot, companies must reduce IT budget. IT is still important for companys’ operation. However, as for large companies, technology procurement is a significant part of a long-run plan, so it is hard to reduce IT expenses immediately. A qualified CIO will not reduce IT spending blindly, but change the way of spending, which means saving the cost while providing great IT services.
