Way Back Into Life

教育的目的是什么？我们正试图获得教育只是为了教育，为了一种文化身份，这使我们与其他人不同。然而，教育并不是使我们与普通的生活分离，而是为了适应社会生活和世界的人们。在教育的过程中，我该如何改变？

ⅠIntroduction
I sat in the classroom, a freshman, listening to the postgraduate students talking about their successful experience, sometimes even took notes, longing to copy their steps so that possibly, I could become as successful as them. But after hearing such sharing sessions for a dozen times, I suddenly realized that it didn’t make any sense to me. Then, the questions occur to me: is that getting good marks and wining more prizes the aim of education? What can we get from education? Can we really become the one that we want to be through education?

Ⅱ The aim of education
It seems that we are trying to get education just for education, for a cultural identity, which makes us different from others. However, education is not to make us separate from ordinary life, rather, to fit people for the social life and the world.

Ⅲ How has I changed during the process of education?
1, Parents are not the “super heroes” any more.
a, Before schooling, I regarded my parents as the model of my life and always expressed admiration for their omniscience.
b, The more education I get, the more unwilling I would like to talk to my parents and the more narrow I think their opinion and life is.
c, I prefer to stay in school than at home, to ask teachers and friends for advice instead of parents.
2, I was separated from the life I enjoyed.
a, I spent my spare time on reading and homework.
b, I could not join the other kids with games because I was regarded as a “good student” and a “good student” should not do that.
c, I seem to be a stranger at home, know little about the operation of household appliances and feel uncomfortable when talk to the elders.
3, I am a “mimic” instead of a “good student”.
a, I depend a lot on theory, believe “what others say” and feel unsure of my own ideas.
b, I like to use famous quotes to make me look wise but my writings seems awkward instead.

Ⅳ Reflection
Older as I am, I begin to miss my childhood, hoping that I could be more like a child at that time.

Ⅴ Conclusion
Certainly, education has changed me a lot but now I would like to spend more time on my family and friends, rather than lock myself in the world of books and so-called “academic”. Education is an undeniable factor that help improve us but we should not give up the one we used to be to become a scholar boy. After all, the art of education should be the social life, and its end is fitness for the world.
