Audience: College students, parents, and scholar of the survey. 

Context: The “DRINKING BEHAVIOR AND DRINKING REFUSAL SELF-EFFICACY IN KOREAN COLLEGE STUDENTS” was published in psychology reports South Korea at Dec2014. 

Purpose: To point out the results of the survey that college drinking leads some bad behaviors. There were so many differences between different sexes. And give some ways to control college drinking.


In the beginning, the author showed a survey of the college drinking in different genders. The results of the survey told us that more male drink than women, and the reasons for why college students drink were stressed from the life or work; different countries have the cultures of drinking, such as people encourage each other to drink in Korea. The other reason was that students always influenced by friends. That means if a student didn’t drink at the first years, but one time his friends invite him to a party and most of people in this party were drink, he would want to try himself. This article also talked about more academic information of drinking.

Context: The “Why Colleges Haven't Stopped Students From Binge Drinking” was published in Chronicle Of Higher Education in the US. The time of the publication was Dec 5th, 2014. 

Purpose: To point out different universities have different ways to manage the college drinking in the party. By researching the history of college drinking, to analyze the bad influences in the college in recent year.

The author emphasized the bad results of college drinking through analyzing the history in the US. There were students died causes drinking every year. More students choose strong drink instead of beer. For the worth influences, most universities and public health institution decided to have some action to prevent college drinking, such as policy of drinking.

Context: The “Heavy Drinking on College Campuses: No Reason to Change Minimum Legal Drinking Age of 21” was published at Journal Of American College Health in the US. And the date was Jan-Mar2011. The author was thought about the current problem that should cut down the age allowed college students drinks. 

Purpose: To emphasize it is very essential to act the policy that allow the people whose age is bigger than 21 to drink. If do not following this policy, more health problems will happen for students.

The author pointed out some arguments to support that keep the legal age to drink id right. Such as it can help to prevent drunk driving. We know that drunk driving is very dangerous and leads to traffic accident. The author also talked about heavy drinking was a serious problem. The reason was that it can lead people have health problems and even death.

Context: The “Endorsed reasons for not drinking alcohol: a comparison of college student drinkers and abstainers” was published at Journal Of Behavioral Medicine in the US. And the date of it was Feb2011.

Purpose: To inform students that the differences between people who drinks and who not, and the advantages of no alcohol life.

This was a academic research report. The author pointed out some serious results of college drinking; such as heavy drinking leads to dead, unlawful behaviors include sexual assault or violence. And then talked about some of other countries’ students can avoid drink during the college life. Advantages were more healthy and positive attitude in studying. They can control themselves avoid the alcohol because they didn’t care about drinks, and they didn’t like the smell of drinks. They knew the disadvantages and the dangerous results that drinks could lead.

Context: The “Religiosity, Alcohol Use, and Sex Behaviors Among College Student-Athletes” was published in Journal Of Religion & Health in the US. Ant the data was Sep2013.

Purpose: To show the situation that students- athletes were higher rate of drinking and engage in sex. Also the relationship between prevent drinking and sex and religiosity.

This was a academic research paper, the author wanted to know the relationship between religiosity and prevent drinking and sex. The method of this survey was chose different kinds of athlete students such as basketball player, soccer players, tennis players and so on. Made the survey to get the results that most of students were heterosexual, and they were having drinks and sex in normal life. Some of the students had religiosity, and they believed that the belief could help them to reduce the desire of drinking and sex.

Context: The “Gender Effects in College Students' Drinking Habits and Their Perceptions of Intoxication of Others” was published in the Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in the US. And the data was May 1991. 

Purpose: To show the situation that the amount of daily alcohol consumption for male and female college students. Also the gender effect on the drinking habits and the perceptions of intoxication of others. 

This is a research report presented on a conference. In the research, the author does a survey for 21 male and female college students. With this survey, the author knows the specific drinking habits for different genders. Through the research, it finds out that body weight differences between females and males are unlikely by themselves to account for the gender bias of the subjects.

Audience: College students, adults, scholars who interested in this paper.

Context: The “A controlled trial of web-based feedback for heavy drinking college students” was published in Prevention Science in the US. And the data was March 2007. 

Purpose: To provide preliminary support for the efficacy of this intervention at reducing short-term drinking among at-risk students.  Meanwhile it provides some basic suggestions for the college students’ excessive drinking.

This is an academic research paper. The method of this research is to design a randomized controlled trial. Wherein, 106 freshmen students who drinks heavily and 246 lighter drinkers are tested under “electronic Check-Up to Go”. The result of this study is that this intervention led to earlier reductions in drinking, and did so at least partially by correcting normative perceptions. Meanwhile this study provides some support for the efficacy of the e-CHUG at reducing two indicators of risky alcohol use for heavy drinkers.

Context: The “A gender-specific measure of binge drinking among college students” was published in American Journal of Public Health in the US. And the data was July 1995. 

Purpose: To find the relationship of volume of alcohol consumed to the occurrence of alcohol-related problems among male and female college students. And to develop a gender-specific measure of heavy drinking for public health research. 

This is an academic research paper. A self-administered survey was conducted in the research. 140 4-year college students from 40 states and District of Columbia were involved. Besides, 17592 college students assisted and completed the survey. This study of this paper shows that women dinking four drinks in a row would have the same likelihood of experiencing drinking-related problems as men. Moreover, a lower standard defining heavy or binge drinking needs to be used for women than for men. This paper suggests that different standards for males and females drinking should be set.

Context: The “College students and problematic drinking: A review of the literature” was published in Clinical psychology review in the Netherlands. And the data was Oct. 2003. 

Purpose: To examine the primary psychosocial factors predicting problem drinking in college students. Meanwhile to provide some suggestions for the college students drinking prevention and intervention. 

This is an academic review paper. In this paper, many variables contributing to college students’ drinking habits are considered, which includes demographic variables, personality, drinking history, alcohol expectancies, and so on. According to the study in this paper, it finds that college students’ drinking are more related to one’s personality and coping mechanisms. Facing this factors, the paper suggests that the environment, individual personality traits and cognitive process should be considered at the same time to implement the interventions and prevention programs.

Audience: College students, parents and scholars who interested in this paper.

Context: The “High Risk Drinking among Non-Affiliated College Students” was published in Journal of Alcohol & Drug Education in the US. And the data was April. 2014. 

Purpose: To do some research on the non-affiliated college students’ drinking. And to find the specific factors which contribute to high risk drinking among these students and their related consequence. 

This is an academic research paper. In this paper, the unaffiliated college students who are not involved in former athletics, fraternities or sororities are investigated. This investigation has five major themes which covers these students’ drinking experience and their related consequence due to drinking. The major finding of this investigation is that these unaffiliated college students are in high risk drinking. Meanwhile, due to drinking, they experience many negative consequence.
