Should abortion be legal or illegal?

Introduction

On January 21st , 2015, the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion-on-demand, in Washington the public chose to lie down outside the White House, made a demonstration of opposing abortion. However, almost at the same time, on January 17th, French feminists in Paris also hold a demonstration to commemorate the 40th anniversary of abortion legalization. It is obviously that the issue of abortion legalization has been a debated topic for a long time and every country has different rules on abortion. With the development of women rights activities, people started to change their attitudes toward this issue. Due to different religion, philosophical views, social experience and political belief, dispute over abortion has become more complicated and confusing. The two sides give their reasons for different arguments but never persuade the opponents. Therefore, I think it is not reasonable to simply define it as legal or illegal. In this essay, I will illustrate the reasons for abortion legalization and illegalization, some problems caused by these two sides, and my opinion about what cases it is legal and illegal.
