Things Fall Apart Brittainy Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a title that means a lot to a book. It does not become apparent until you read the book. Okonkwo spends his whole life trying to earn respect and wealth all for things to fall apart. Respect means a lot more to someone if they have to earn it on their own. Unoka, Okonkwo’s father, was the joke of the whole tribe and his son refused to follow in his footsteps. He was ashamed of his father and “had no patience” for his laziness. The people of the village look for a boy to be just like his father but Okonkwo refused for that to be his faith. He was a great warrior in the tribe. Everyone looked for him to be a leader and not to be afraid of anything.
