The Contemporary Issue Of Society And Technology In Farhenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451, a science fiction book written by Ray Bradbury, shows us a world in the future where firemen do not put out fires. They burn books. In this thrilling, best selling novel, Bradbury conveys, quite poignantly, two very common themes in science fiction literature. These two science fiction themes are: the relationship between society and technology, and the extension of contemporary issues into this futuristic world; A futuristic world not all too dissimilar than the modern world of today. This essay will go as far as to show just how outstanding and intertwined these two themes are in this novel.
The two themes in this novel-extension of contemporary issues, and society to technology-are as intertwined as the relationship between insect and flower. This is true because the relationship between society and technology is the main contemporary issue brought up in this novel. And since that is a big question in the advanced age of today than theres no question why Bradbury chose that to be a main question brought up in his novel about a technologically advanced society.
