China is a united muti-ethnic country with multiple nationalities, ethnical problems has become an increasing problems since the opening reform policies. Xinjiang’s problems have become an obstacle to China, which also spreads to the whole world. Ethnical problems have always been a big issue in any multiple nationality country. In recent months, Xinjiang’s violence gradually comes up and a series of events with more people’s death caused a lot of debates on China’s policy in western regions of China.

Xinjiang is China’s western province which compromises eighteen percent of the countries’ whole area.In 1940, the population of Han Chinese consist 6 percent along the whole population of Xinjiang. (Andrew,2012)Nowadays, the Han population makes up approximately 50 percent. The shift in population was mainly because of socialist national projects which bents on “the development of the west” In 1990s, China has carried out economic liberalization, since then, the population of Han has a dramatic increase. Millions of migrants from Han who are not restricted by the registration system of socialist-era household come to the region in groups in order to seek for better living conditions, especially economic prospects. (Michael, 2011) Xinjiang is plagued by the stigma of falling behind from other countries compared with those costal provinces. Therefore, provincial governments which competes against each other usually privilege economic growth over others. In Xinjiang, this is shown in an all-out drive to let more Chinese companies in the eastern part of China to invest in remote regions such as Xinjiang. The government often asks these companies to employ  Uyghurs, thus, these companies usually directly bing some Han Chinese laborers along with them or employ those who are already in Xinjiang.

Referring to the issues on Xinjiang, three forces issues is the toughest one for Chinese government to solve, three forces in Xinjiang consist of extreme religious forces, violent terrifying forces and regional separatists. The development of Xinjiang has been obsessed with these three forces. (Tom,2010) Among these three forces, regional separatists has a long history, the influence of which is very bad from the aspects of economy, politics and ideology. Since the opening reform, the regional separatists advocate to exclude the Han dynasty and Han Chinese, holding the flag of religion and nationality. In the past 30 years, some regional separatists are captured by the security agencies. From the year 1990 to the year 2001, violent cases caused by the three forces in Xinjiang can be up to over 200. These events caused many many people injured or died. Facts demonstrate that reginal separatist is the arch-criminal. Faced with the three forces in Xinjiang, the Chinese Communist party of China insist that the policy of initiative offence, beat terrorist once they are shown, preemptive strategies. And the Chinese Communist party keep a close watch on them. Leaders in Xinjiang areas cooperate with PLA, armed police and production and construction corps. Besides, ideology areas is another area for Chinese Communist party to fight against with regional separatists. It concerns with culture, education and many other education department and groups. This kind of ideological battle is a little complex ans conceal because the ideological areas have its own characters itself. In the 1990s, Chinese communist parties carried out a series of activities and studies on the regional separatists. Meanwhile, Chinese Communist party strengthens the education and training campaigns on national ideologies. Besides, Chinese Communist party should actively do some work about ethnic work and try to keep the ethnic unity, which lays a good foundation for society. (Joanna, 1991) Xinjiang is a area where lots of nationalities get together. National unity is the lifeline of Xinjiang’s all nationalities and the premise and guarantee of Xinjiang’s whole work. The Marxism principle should be indoctrinated to people in Xinjiang. (Wei,,2010) This kind of patriotic education shows Chinese Communist Party and some related governments’ care and support for people in Xinjiang. Religion policy should be carried out seriously and the management of religion should be enforced. Xinjiang is an area with various religions, approximately over half of the population believes in religion. Party committee of autonomous regions should pay high attention to religious issues and religious work. Contingent of cadres building should be enforced in order to provide powerful organization assurance. The basic organization building should be enforced and the social basis should be fixed. As for the social stability, the basic -level communist party’s organization should be fixed firmly.

As for the economic aspects, not only Chinese but also western media have a tendency to connect violence in Xinjinag with Muslim extremism, however, it can be seen that the main grievance is that it is really hard for Uyghur to find a work, in contrary, Han Chinese who comes to Xinjiang from other provinces make a lot of money, so it is obvious that Han Chinese advantages cause Uyghurs’ serious hatred. Most of the violence in Xinjiang at present may be shown in the language of religious extremism and ethnic-separatism, these facts mean that most of the violence is usually caused by some practical grievances. For instance, the Urumqi Riots were caused by the belief which the police don’t intervene to prevent Chinese killing Uyghurs in a dispute caused by inter ethnics’ difference in a toy factory in the province of Guangdong. (William,2010)According to this issue, the Chinese government can take some measures to provide the Uyghur people with better prospects of employment. In this way, the government will kill two birds by one stone. First of all, this action can be used to reduce the perception that new Han arrivals in Xinjiang quickly become wealthy while the Uyghurs are still poor. (Graham,2010)Besides, the more frequently Uyghurs devotes to gainful employment in their own territory, the more they will loose when they are faced of the choice of turning to violence. For instance, in 2009, the worst rioting cases which are carried out in Urumqi will be undertaken by those young, disenfranchised Uyghurs with lots of rages and some economic perception of prosperity. Besides, Xinjiang is rich in oil, so Chinese government should encourage companies in costal areas to invest in Xinjiang and give some financial support in poor areas in Xinjiang so that people can work hard with a motivation of better life. And they will focus more attention to their living standard rather than thinking about how to split from China.

In conclusion, Chinese government should combine persuasive education with forceable actions together to let people in Xinjiang live in a peaceful environment and live a better life. This ideal phenomenon can be achieved by the joint efforts of Chines government and the real actions of people in Xinjiang. China will hold its policy meant for minorities firmly and any outside powers can interfere China’s unity. Xinjiang is a a part of China’s territory and it will prosperous under the leadership of Chinese communist party.
