In contrast, the horizontal lines below the sower's feet show more calmness. The lines in the area below the sower are of the same size. If we look closer, we can find that Vincent used short and long curved lines to create a sense of distance. From the audiences' perspectives, the longer and darker the lines become when the distance shortens.

The vertical lines show a straight torso of the sower. His legs and arms are wonderfully portrayed with lines in several directions, showing his movement and emotions. We can see he is content from his big step and arm-swinging.
