In the article, “Special Computer Aided Education Using Multimedia”, Lei Chushan and lo Hio Hong (2006)did a research, which has the potential to provide such special computer aided education (CAE) technology using multimedia to make people who with disabilities to work as part of the production team in this rapidly developing society and increase their learning efficiency through watching and listening.

In Lei Chushan and lo Hio Hong’s (2006) article, they mainly developed their research for the needs of children with disabilities and those with learning difficulties. Lei and Hong developed their research with the methods of illustration and observation study. Noticing that disabled people and those with learning difficulties are very hard to work as part of the production team in society and to increase their learning efficiency through watching or listening, they thought that whether make some kind of special equipment for disabled people and those with learning difficulties or not, and then, they put forward such a special computer aided education technology using multimedia. In order to be conceiving, these two researchers taking blind people as an example, and assumed to create a specially designed voice assistant system for them.

Nowadays, the Internet develops faster and faster, and the Internet is applied to more and more fields, such as transportation, communication, teaching, shopping, working, etc. It is said that there are over 2000 special schools and 4.81 million full-time teachers for special children in China according to a report in People’s Daily on Dec. 22, 2015. Clearly, the disabled, especially children with disabilities and those with learning difficulties are a big part in the world. Luckily, more and more people devoted their life and energy to special education for special children, including Lei Chushan and lo Hio Hong.

As for teaching, teachers would like to use multimedia to their classes. That means, we could see what we are going to learn more directly and vividly. We, the common people, are impressed a lot by the advanced technology - multimedia, let alone the children with disabilities and those with learning difficulties. Textbooks become dancing characters, beautiful graphics and animated cartoons, movies with sounds with multimedia capabilities, which is quite easier to special children to understand what they are learning. Taking blind children as an example, they cannot see this beautiful and colorful world through their eyes. Fortunately, those blind children can hear the expressive voice through the Internet with the special computers aided education.

Disabled people and those with learning difficulties cannot be overlooked. Perhaps some people would ask why the government did not prevent those disabled children with some certain policies. Admittedly, if there are less and less disabled children or those with learning difficulties in this world, we, common people do not need to put our efforts and energy to them anymore. However, the government has no such a right to do so, they could not get rid of the life right of those disabled children. Obviously, none of mother wants their own kids to be disabled with born, on the contrary, all mothers want their children to be healthy, to walk, to speak, to hear, and to see the world as other normal children. Most mothers would not abandon their disabled children once they delivered them. And those mothers try their best to offer their children the best condition of living and learning with their 200 percent love. Of course, many mothers would give up their children’s life when they were told by doctors that their children would be disabled after their birth, because they do not want their children to suffer from their disabilities in their life. We could not judge which attitude is correct. Every mother has her decisions, and she knows what she wants and what she does not wants. That is why there are still more disabled children and those with learning difficulties, and the government could not public some certain policies to limit the number of children with disabilities.

Author had ever been a special school for special children as a volunteer in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China few years before. There, I saw many children with disabilities and those with learning difficulties. Most of them always sit with silence. Special schools are schools; however, they did not provide normal teaching like reading and writing as other normal schools because of their special students. Teachers just accompany students, play with them, they do not think it is necessary to teach them something useful just like reading and writing. An expressive memory for me is a boy who was retarded with infantile autism. He sat in a corner for two hours without saying any words while I first came there. I walked up to him, and spoke to him. Unfortunately, he did not make any response in the whole process as if I did not exist. His teacher told me that he was abandoned by his parents because of his abnormal appearance and mind. He never talks to others and has interaction with others. Unexpectedly, he still sat silently in his corner, in his own world when I left. I never see him after I left. But I know clearly how lonely he is, how lonely those disabled children and those with learning difficulties are.

Lei Chusan and lo Hio Hong(2006) did their research with example of blind and visually handicapped people through Speech Synthesis System(S³), Voice assisting scheme for the blind, and CAE software for children with learning difficulties Ⅱ (p. 297-98). They believed that more applications can be made based on some of their research work. So it was.

Special computers aided education is more and more available with the development of the Internet. And it will do a large amount of benefits to those disabled children and those with learning difficulties after it were applied to their living and learning. It will make those children understand the world easier than before. The invention of special computers aided education will put the development of the world forward because it liberates full-time teachers. With special computers aided education, we do not need more and more full-time teachers for special schools any more, and parents who own those disabled children can teach their children in their home with this device. Those full-time teachers or experts can put their effort and energy into another field and become another someone for their country and make another contribution to this world. 

Obviously, there are many obstacles in the process of the invention of special computers aided education. Every disabled kid has his own symptom, and he needs his own special computers aided education which is different from others. That means experts need to invent different multimedia for different disabled children, for instance, a kind of multimedia for blind children who cannot see but they can hear, another kind of multimedia for children who can neither watch nor heard, another kind of multimedia for retarded children, etc. The world does not need general special schools for special children, but it needs a specific one. Perhaps we can gather those blind but can hear children together and use certain multimedia for them in a special school for them, and we also can gather those blond and deaf children together and make suitable multimedia for them in their special school, and so on. Of course, parents can buy or apply for a customized special computers aided multimedia for their children if can afford it in economically. That is up to them.

All in all, special computers aided multimedia is quite beneficial to those disabled children and those with learning difficulties greatly. Lei and Hong's research (2006) was a basis of inventing more special applications for disabled people and those with learning difficulties, for instance, with a little modification to the VAS for modern telephone in order to people who cannot see but they can hear can use telephone as other ordinary people. With the S³ as a core, experts in special fields can create digital talking books or talking pages for Web pages on the Internet, and some systems for inquiry services such as air lines, railways, the Stock Market, etc. Over the past decades, science and technology developed much a lot.

In the first place, they developed faster than other products in many other fields. Nowadays, there a lot of technological computer software to help people to do something, especially for disabled and those with learning difficulties, for example, intelligent robot. Today, intelligent robots can help people to do housework, accompany them, chat with them, and many people would like to date with a robot, even some people would like to marry a robot, because they think that robot wife is much devoted, much loyal, more real than human beings. Professors Lei and Hong (2006), they put their much expectation into CAE system.

The second they think that the potential of CAE is great with the rapid development of science and technology. That is just their imagination, and experts would find out more possibilities and advantages when they find the new technology and use it. In this way, disabled people and those with learning difficulties will work as many normal people, and their disabilities will not be disabilities any more.

The most important they are same, and God will give them same chances to live their life, to achieve themselves, to come true their dreams. There are no special schools any more, and there are no special children as well as people any longer. With the direction of the article, "Special Computer Aided Education Using Multimedia”, the beautiful and, colorful world will not be no visual or touchable for disabled people and those with learning difficulties any more in the near future.
