1 Introduction

Leadership in energy and environmental design(LEED) is a green building assessment system which is established and implemented by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in 1995, aimed to promote the design processes of overall constructions. The USGBC hope IEED can change market trends by a national certification and promote green supply and green competition[1]. The core goal of USGBC is change the habits of the construction industry and the ways of enterprise in designing, constructing, operating and so on. So, make it is better for the environment and social responsibility, make the building healthier, more prosperous, and ultimately improve people's quality of life.

Reviewing developments since the 1960s, according to significant environmental events in the world, green building can be considered contains three tips: saving energy and resources, friendly ecological environment and the safe, healthy and comfortable indoor environment.Current green building assessment system contains: Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) which is set by US Green Building Council, Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) leading by UK Building Research Establishment (BRE) and Comprehensive Assessment System for Building Environmental Efficiency (CASBEE) developed by Japan.

2 IEED

LEED assessment system is mainly constituted by the following evaluation criteria. LEED NC2.2 is evaluation system used to guide the design of high-performance commercial and research projects, focusing primarily on office building. LEED EB is aimed to improve LEED NC2.2[2]. LEED CI includes the choice of rental space, efficient use of water, energy performance optimization, lighting control, resource utilization and indoor air quality. Make use of green Green building materials because they are conducive to health and to improve work efficiency, reduce operation and maintenance costs, reduce environmental impact. LEED CS is used to the main building and the shell. LEED for school, LEED Home, LEED for retail, LEED for healthcare and so on.

LEED green certification system assesses green building projects from six aspects: sustainable construction sites, efficient use of water, energy use and the environment, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality and innovative design. Total score accumulate from six parts (out of 69), to build a quantitative mode used to express green building features. According score,building projects can be divided 4 levels: passing the LEED certification (26 to32 points), Silver certification (33 to 38 points), Gold certification (39 to 51 points) and Platinum certification (52 to 69). LEED certification process includes three parts. First, it is needed to carried out early application in the design process. What's more,  technical support in the process. At last, it is the overall certification to the whole process.

3 Conclusion

The evaluation criteria of LEED provides a strong technical standard and support to improve energy use, building a sustainable environment in the design, construction process of green buildings[3]. With the constant updates and improvements, reduced cost of evaluation criteria, LEED evaluation criteria will be more feasible. The successful application of LEED in the United States promotes the development and practice of green building and sustainable construction in the U.S. market. Given the current booming in the development of domestic green building, we can expect Chinese green building will continue to show explosive growth in the next two years. LEED certification would necessarily be deeper and broader.
