As an important section of print media,international news report of metropolitan newspapers start relatively later and developtepidly. In order to satisfy the interest of readers, metropolitan newspapers target atcity and tend to be localization-oriented. Therefore, the local and domestic newsbecome the first choice of all the metropolitan newspapers. In this case, manyjournalists pay less attention to international news reports, putting them behind thelocal and domestic news and advertising. Based on the following reasons,international news report is far away from its target readers and is mistaken as asupplementary section, maintaining the integrity of a comprehensive daily.

CHAPTER II literature review

Thefounder of Communication Lasswell published his books Propaganda Techniques inWorld War I in 1927, International Communication: the American Attitude andInternational Communication: Language Papers in 1931. Both of them involved theexternal publicity and focused on advocacy skills, effects and countermeasures.

2.2 De-Westerning Media Theory

It has already been habitually accepted that, in the western media theories, theresearch evidences of few typical countries are considered as the applicable basis forall the general study on media. But these theories are still doubtful on thegeneralization of the neutrality of some media issues, such as the effect of newssource on news report, the theory exploring the media-and-post-modernityrelationship. Meanwhile, when dealing with these media issues, these few typical countries will be probably taken as powerful examples and evidences in the westernmedia research.
