Death Of My Father The most significant and life changing experience in my life was when my father died last year on October 9, 2002. It really awakened me to how the world works and how fragile life is. I remember the day perfectly. I was at home when I received a phone call from my brother’s mom telling me that my father had committed suicide. I was unable to comprehend how this could possibly be true. I had just talked to my father on the phone the Friday before and he said these final words to me before he hung up the phone, “I love you very much and take care of yourself and be safe.” My father and I really did not have conversations like that before but I really did not think much of it. Actually, my father had abandoned me at the age of 3 and he did not make the effort to get to know me until I was thirteen. Nevertheless, I still love my father and I will never forget the good and bad times that we had together.
