Fannie Mar Fannie Mae is a company that believes in diversity. Their mission is to provide housing for lower income families. Their role of HR in company strategy is unique. They assist their employees in ways that other corporations wouldn’t, and believe in affirmative action. Fannie Mae is one of the most diverse places to work for. They attract many employees encouraging growth within the corporate ladder and doing unconventional things like making sure their workers can purchase a home by loaning money for down payment, with no repayment if they stay with the company for more than five years. Fannie Mae also encourages mentors. Older, higher ranking managers pair up with younger, lower managers. There are also managers mentoring others in different job areas. The managers learn from mentoring by getting feedback from the employees, and also see what is going on in the organization through the younger employees perspective. Mentoring is used to develop leaders and managers, challenges the employee, and shows them the ropes. They maintain their competitive strategy by offering good benefits, fully funded tuition reimbursement, housing, being flexible, and eldercare.
