Electonic Monitoring The globalization of the trade have forced many third world countries to comply with uneven bilateral/multilateral trade agreement with developed countries, forcing them to give up some of their sovereignty and rights on their own soil. Those, which have refused to agree to those harsh terms have seen the stronger countries imposing heaving tariffs and quotas or even embargos on their goods and services limiting their exports. A year after the tragedy of September 11, some of these countries can gain favors of the stronger countries by fully cooperating and even helping them to fight terrorism. Singapore has been one of the countries that have managed to gain the favor of the US, by opening their borders to international security agencies in the search of terrorists. Even though Singapore has been a major trading country in the field of electronics with countries around the world. Its exports were suffering from heavy quotas and tariffs in the US market. A free trade agreement between the two countries will mean a major boost for Singapore’s economy and the welfare of the Singaporeans.
