The Scarlett Letter The Scarlet Letter can be considered a satire of Puritan beliefs because the book is full of angry people who mock and ridicule the unfortunate one who bears the letter "A" on her chest. The people of Puritanistic faith claim to be the ones raised in good nature and proper upbringing, as not to lead to such a sin as adultery, as Hester had committed. They also claim to be somewhat of a more perfect society of friends, though it is one of their own who they turn against. They believe in the term predestination, where their God has chosen their fate in life before their very souls even existed, but then they chose to differentiate Hester's fate after they learned of her ultimate sin. The people of the town claim themselves to be of Puritanistic faith in their quiet town but they are the first to make fun of Hester and meddle about her business even years into the child’s life. The Puritan community is said to be one of strict and proper manner though when one bearing the scarlet “A” on their chest was to walk through the town, they were pointed and taunted at, as though they were not a human being but of some sort of scarlet, letter, people, one, town, sin, hester, puritan, fate, been, ultimate, today, though, led, faith, committed, claim, ways, throughout, souls, society, seemed, satire, salem, puritans, puritanistic, proper, predestination, own, manner, life, god, even, decided, chest, believe
