Things Fall Apart In the novel Things Fall Apart, author Chinua Achebe creates a conflict between his main character Okonkwo and his African society. In the novel, Chinua Achebe uses this conflict to promote the overall theme of man’s struggle for placement in the world. Achebe successfully achieves this conflict through action. As it is commonly misconceived that Things Fall Apart is about the falling of a society, the novel is truly about man falling out of the circle of society. Okonkwo, Achebe’s main character, goes through this transition in the novel.
