The Light Of Darkness Chopin’s “The Storm” leads us to believe that a sexually unfulfilled housewife or husband will eventually find sexual gratification somewhere else. That if people are not honest with their true feelings then somehow, somewhere their hidden intentions will become inevitable. Chopin reinforces this by Calixta and Alcèe sudden and unintended passionate affair. Unfortunately, affairs are like things done in the dark of night, eventually the light of the day will shine. In Chopin’s story she portrayed the affair of Calixta and Alcèe as being beneficial to their respective marriages, but no matter how understanding a person can be, the confession or the knowledge of an affair, the betrayal of such sacred trust, is usually devastating to a marriage. Sex is a very natural and important part of people’s lives, yet we are conditioned from small children to not let other people know how we really feel about our sex drives.
