下面为大家整理一篇优秀的assignment代写范文- Is the threat of global warming real,供大家参考学习,这篇论文讨论了全球变暖。

1. Introduction

Global warming has become one area among many that the sciences’ most beloved to make predictions, but mostly hit by faces, and many predictions are not manifestations of the spirit of science. Proponents of climate warming suppress dissidents, while radical skeptics do not believe that humans have caused global warming. In a nutshell, global warming a phenomenon caused by the greenhouse effects gradually accumulated, disrupting the balance of the earth’s gas system between energy absorption and release. The energy is continuously absorbed in the earth's gas system, leading to the rising of temperature and global warming. At the beginning of the twentieth century, global warming was once a common topic in the world. Now, people seem to have forgotten the phenomenon that once will destroy the earth. Now, the question still exists: is global warming a real threat to humans?

In summary, this article analyzes and answers the question whether global warming remains a human threat from three aspects. First of all, the factors leading to global warming will be analyzed in depth. Second, the article will show the status quo of global warming. Finally, the article will raise and exhibit the variety of threats global warming brings about.

2. Causes of Global Warming

The causes of global warming are manifold. But it mainly due to the extensive use of fossil fuels (coal, oil, etc.) by mankind in industrialization over the past century and the release of large amounts of greenhouse gases such as CO2. Because that the greenhouse gases are easily permeate into the shortwave sun radiation, they are easily to be absorbed by the earth reflecting longwave radiation, which is the so-called greenhouse effect. This whole activity attributes to global warming (Lashof & Ahuja, 1990).

In addition to the main cause, the greenhouse effect, to global warming, there are other factors that make the Earth more and more warm. The first one is the sharp increase in population (Valenzuela, 2001). Also, the soaring population poses a serious threat and possible to break the natural balance of the environment. With such a large population, the quantity of emission of carbon dioxide annual alone will be an alarming figure, which will directly result in the continuous ascent of the quantity of atmosphere carbon dioxide (Bongaarts, 1992). Thus, the formed carbon dioxide will have directl effects the surface climate.

Another factor is the erosion of land, desertification and other destructive factors, resulting in sharp reduction of forest resources. The improper agricultural production poses the main cause of soil erosion and desertification (Nearing, Pruski & O’neal, 2004). Good vegetation has an important effect of maintaining soil erosion. However, human excessively hack the forest for timber harvesting, over graze and reclaim land for agricultural production are still doing serious damage to vegetation. As a result, soil is eroding, depressing the soil fertility and water retention. This whole activity suppresses the soil biological productivity and maintainable productivity (Lal, 2003). Besides, it may also result in a wide range of natural disasters, such as floods and sandstorms.

3. Unstalled Global Warming

Luo Yong, a professor from Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University, collaborated with researchers in the United States to rebuild a set of ground temperature sequences in the Arctic with a time span of more than a century and strong coordination in time and space. In recent years, the international scientific community has put forward new opinions on the existence and formation mechanism of "global warming stagnation". However, this study shows that the global climate continues to warmer, without stagnation.

"Stagnation in global warming" means that after 1998, although global average concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases continue to rise, the global average surface temperature seems to cease to rise further and remain at a relatively high temperature (Caserini, et al., 2017). The research team used the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration 1850-2014 global temperature observations, buoy observations in the Arctic from 1979 to 2004 provided by the International Arctic Buoy Observing Project, applied empirical orthogonal function data interpolation method, reconstructed temperature at the areas where are lack of observations and set up annual average temperature series covering the area north of latitude 50 ° 1900 ~ 2014 (Weiwei Feng, 2017).

The study found that Arctic warming accelerated after 2000. If we add the Arctic region to the global average temperature, the warming trend from 1998 to 2012 is 0.112 ℃ every 10 years, which is significantly higher than that of every 10 years excluding Arctic data 0.05 ℃ warming trend, and is almost the same as the 1951 ~ 2012 warming.

This study, for the first time, reveals the rapid warming of the Arctic or offsetting the effect of cooling on the tropical equatorial regions of the world on average global temperatures in recent years. Although the spatial distribution of global warming has changed, the upward trend of global average temperature has not changed. The study further pointed out that the lack of observational data in the Arctic has a far greater impact on the global average temperature calculation than in the Antarctic (Weiwei Feng, 2017).

4. The Threat of Global Warming

The dangers of global warming have not disappeared. The first to mention is sea level rise. The mechanism under the rising process is quite simple. The original high temperature lead to iceberg ablation. The continuing melting ice increases the amount of sea water, of which the direct consequence is sea level rise (Meehl et al., 2005). A research pointed out that the flow of the Colorado River has increased six times and ice sheet has impacts on Greenland melting. This research predicts that by 2100, sea levels will increase 6 meters if ice melting is continuing. This will flood majority tropical islands in Indonesia and other low-lying areas, such as New York City (Bindoff et al. 2007).

The second threat is the storms and floods. Experts predict that rising global temperatures will lead to the precipitation based on climate models. In just 30 years, the frequency of intense hurricanes 4-5 has almost doubled (Mousavi, et al., 2011). The warm sea gave strength to the hurricane. Scientists researched the relationship between the ocean temperature and the atmosphere. It is found that America and Britain have all been hit by super storms and floods during the past few years, causing serious dead in property lost in the disaster. From 1905 to 2005, the frequency of hurricanes gradually increased. Between 1905 and 1930, the average number of hurricanes each year is 3.5; between 1931 and 1994, the figure is 5.1 per year; and between 1995 and 2005, it increased to 8.4 (Trenberth, 2005).

5. Conclusion

The issue of global warming has been the subject of much controversy. Some people doubt if it really exists. If the answer is yes, then is the main cause is the contradictions caused by the laws of nature or by nature and human beings? This essay concludes this topic by analyzing the causes of global warming, whether global warming is stagnant, and the threat posed by global warming to obtain the answer: global warming will cause devastating catastrophe to mankind, nature and the planet. Threat is a real existence, and we should put forward measures as soon as possible to improve the situation of global warming, protect the earth and give mankind an eternal homeland
