Accommodation constitutes an important part of our college life, as sleep always takes us third of 24 hours. Therefore, the choice of living on or off campus exerts a great influence on our college life when considering the convenience and safety. It is a matter of making college life better suitable for us. Most commonly, students would choose to live on campus, as demanded by university authority. But some students, probably for the sake of convenience, would prefer living outside, thus escaping some unnecessary regulation from the university or chaos in the dormitory.

Safety speaks a large volume when it comes to accommodation. One of the differences between living on or off campus lies in personal or property safety. Living on campus, to a certain degree, could lessen the chance of theft, as a result of safeguarding in campus and multi people in one dormitory. For example, when we go outside, if our dorm room mate is in the dormitory, thieves are not likely to break into the dormitory. Property loss is bearable, as it is just belongings. But if personal safety is damaged, it is irreparable. When living off campus, if some burglars intend to hurt you, it could place you in a dangerous situation. Nowadays, crimes concerned with theft or rape are on the rise. If a girl living off campus has a poor sense of self protection, then the chance is that she could suffer a loss in property or personal safety.

Even though it is safe to live on campus, some deem it more valuable to live off campus as it is more convenient. First, living on campus signals a regular routine of life. As some regulation suggests, the door would be closed if one comes back later than 11:30PM. Second, living in the dormitory could stand for chaos and distraction. Sometimes, when one go to sleep, another still wants to finish watch football games, who would shout out unconsciously if his favorite football player shoot in. some would want to concentrate on study while others are chatting with each other. It is difficult to be totally immersed in study. However, if one chooses to live off campus, all these problems would disappear instantly.

When considering accommodation in campus, it is roughly a matter of safety and convenience. If one chooses to live on, then he needs to adjust himself to the regulation and negotiate with his roommates. If one prefers outside living, then it is necessary for him to improving self=protection skills.
