I Want To Know Why In this story, the boy is taught a valuable lesson that he doesn’t understand. In the story, the main character (MC) and his friends go to the racetrack in their home town to see the horses and be around the folk there. They love horses and the atmosphere that the horses bring with them to the racetrack. In the story there is a man that MC looks up to more than his father. This shows that he did not view his father as a direct influence and authority figure in his life. He valued another strange man more. He felt that he could relate to this man more. This is apparent in today’s society also. Many adolescents view their parents, or more directly their fathers, in this way. In our story, the MC is semi close with his father. They are in the respects that his father understands that the MC is probably going to do what he wants. Sighting page two, the entire second paragraph, the MC says that he and his friends decided that they were going to set out to a different town where there was a big race. They totally disregarded what their parents would say.
