Huckleberry_Finn_Journals

Huckleberry Finn Journals Journals Chapters 1-5 Living with the Widow Douglas is a good thing for Huck Finn because she wants to raise him as a civilized child. In some ways this sets up the main theme of the novel, which is the line where civilization and freedom meet. In another way, this shows that civilization messes things up rather than improves a person. For example, right in this first chapter, Huck is forced to change his natural character into what the Widow Douglas wants him to become. He hates having to eat dinner when a dinner bell rings. He is not really used to his new lifestyle. It is very evident that Huck and Tom are best friends, and that the adults in the story are trying to “sivilize” them into what they want them to become. Meanwhile, Huck isn’t very popular which makes it difficult for him to be himself. Huck is in many ways a logical thinker who only believes what he can see with his own eyes. Because of this, I can tell that he gets bored with the other kids very easily. The only significant thing that happened in chapter 4 that was interesting, was huck, huckleberry, finn, adventures, jim, really, chapters, very, because, tell, chapter, about, tom, people, king, duke, death, ways, way, town, totally, think, thing, steal, new, just, himself, good, gets, father, change, been, become, back, after, young, words, widow
