Darwinists Women of the early 1900s were focused on pleasure, beauty, and glamour. Many depended on a spouse and characterized social status with money. Women of this time period were especially materialistic; most of the female characters in The Great Gatsby displayed a value for wealth. Daisy’s first priority obviously wasn’t her family.
