Robin Hood
Throughout history many stories have been passed down through the generations to be known to later generations as a myth, or legend. A myth is defined as a story, handed down from the past, which lacks accurate historical evidence but has been, and may still be, properly accepted as being true. One of those legends passed down to us from generations is the legend of Robin Hood, the so called Prince of Thieves. Robin Hood was a legendary English outlaw who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Robin bravely fought the sheriff of Nottingham, a corrupt official who persecuted the poor. He and a band of merry men, who lived in the Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, fought those who stole from the poor. Robin Hood is still debated to this day as to whether he was real, or just the subject to a tale of ballads and poems to entertain listeners.
