The Great Gatsby Nick Carraway views himself as being the most honest man he himself has ever met. He grew up in a wealthy family in the Midwest. Nick moved east after participating in World War I, to be in the bond business. Nick is the narrator of the story, it is through him that we meet Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, and all the other characters in the book. Nick is one of the richest character’s in “The Great Gatsby” in the sense that he has a moral code of ethics that he lives by and cherishes throughout the story. “Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had,” this is a quote from Nick’s father. Nick ‘s father taught him moral values that he has learned to stand by throughout his life. Throughout the story Nick has been put in situations that have challenged his values, but no matter what the situation Nick stuck to his beliefs. Although Nick does try to reserve the judgment of others, he does realize that there is a limit.
