To Kill a Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Copyright 1960 by Warner Books. This is an ageless tale that takes place in the 1930s, in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama. There was a deadly racial attitude in the town for people that were different than the general public. Atticus was the only open minded person in town, and he tried to teach his children, Jem and Scout, that too. Atticus tried to make them believe that know one was pure evil, and everyone had a good side. Mrs. Dubose is perceived as an old witch to Jem and Scout, but that is just because they didnt look hard enough into her. Atticus also defended Tom Robinson when the whole town was against him. If only the town had the same view on racism as Atticus then it would have been free of racism. Scout was symbolizing the leaders of tomorrow and finally got a grasp of what Atticus ment by, It is a sin to kill a mockingbird.
