Things Fall Apart One of the most fascinating things that had cut my interest is the presence of violence in the novel Things Fall Apart. Even though, the book touches upon other issues, I strongly feel that violence centers on all of them. It becomes almost unbelievable to see presence of violence in almost every aspect of Umuofia clan’s lifestyle. Conflicts including violence exist among everyone in the community. Not only violence is used for defense against other tribes but also it is used against women and children as well as in many religious and cultural rituals. In the small community in Umuofia violence is used as a mean to express cultural traditions and religious rituals. Firing guns after ones death, allowing “punished” members of the community to die in the Evil Forest tied to a tree and left for decay, as well as the refusal to accept of twins in the community are only a few examples of violence. Examples listed above show nothing but cold hearted, pathetic, unexplainable ways to punish and humiliate people. I do not feel it is right for a community to condemn people who do not meet its standard violence, community, one, man, without, upon, umuofia, things, rituals, question, just, children, young, wrong, women, wife, tries, traditions, small, should, right, religious, punish, presence, people, okonkwo, innocent, having, goes, follow, feel, examples, everyone, even, die
