Silverwing

Silverwing Shade is a newborn silverwing bat that has the dream of living in the sun. He starts wanting this even more when he finds out the birds and the beasts forbid it because they banished the bats to darkness because they would not help either side in fighting the war. The owls found out about this and were mad at the colony so they burnt down their roost and made them leave. On the way to the male’s roost when they were caught in a storm and Shade was blown out to an island in the middle of the ocean where he met Marina, a brightwing bat. They traveled together for a long time before they met Goth and Throbb, giant carnivorous vampire bats that escaped from the lab where they were being studied.
