Silas Marner Silas Marner In the novel Silas Marner, written by George Elliot, I was chosen to write about irony. This was good because many ironic situations occurred in this novel. In the following paragraphs, I will explain to you how I believe faith in people caused the most ironic situations. I will provide many examples and details that support them. When you put your faith in someone it should be someone you trust and not to be taken lightly. In the novel, ironically, people always seem to be putting faith in someone they can’t trust. In the paragraphs that follow I will show many examples of how this irony is displayed. For example, in the beginning of the story Silas puts his faith in his best friend William. William lets Silas down and lies about the knife. He says that Silas had the knife and that he believes Silas committed the robbery when in actuality William really did. Godfrey loans his brother money and has faith that he will pay him back, but he doesn’t. Since Dunstan, his faith, silas, people, novel, money, william, villagers, someone, situations, put, mother, irony, ironic, find, dunstan, because, trust, person, paragraphs, marner, lets, knife, ironically, horse, godfrey, examples, eppie, brother, believes, about, when, young, wrong, written, write, way
