Classical Reading
This winter I read The Catcher in the Rye. I was very displeased when I came to the end. I had many questions. I wanted to know what happened after Holden got home. I wanted to know if his parents understood even though I doubt they did. I wanted to know if they sent him to another boarding school or if they decided they could handle him now. I did like the way Salinger wrote the book though, he told the story like a 16 year old boy would, not as a 50 year old man.
My hope is that in AP English I will encounter this same experience with literature. On my own I read at least 2-3 books a month from fiction to non- fiction stories. For some reason reading is a way out for me, when I feel useless I pick up a book and read. I try to relate to the characters problems. I have the motivation to devote at least 7 hours of reading, writing, and thinking per week. Independent of school requirements, I would spend the same about of time on
