Primary Colors Vs Last Hurray
Being in a position of power causes most people to set and behave differently than others. Sometimes the pressures of having power cause people to do the things that they personally believe are unacceptable and even immoral. Primary Colors, by Anonymous, and The Last Hurrah, by Edwin OConnor, both differ and share similarities in Political scales. Primary Colors expresss controversial actions and behaviors of the politicians by depicting the campaign of a democratic presidential nominee, Jack Stanton. In The Last Hurrah, the author talks directly about and gives great consideration in the system of criminal activity. The author develops his novel around Frank Skeffington, running for Mayor, and also the authors focuses around the characterization of James Michael Curley, the forceful and corrupt political force in the community in Boston. The authors feel that the political system in both of these novels directly corresponds with the political structure in the community today. However, the primary question is: what is political ethics, and who defines what is ethical or moral as it pertains to the actions of politicians or the system of politics'
