A Rose For Miss Emily
In most writings an author looks for different ways to capture their readers. This
is why readers are able to form opinions about what they have read. They create a point of view to try and evoke certain feelings so, we can have a better understanding of a character. In A Rose For Miss Emily by William Faulkner he expresses the theme of
Individuality. He Created an idea of Individuality through Emily Grierson who becomes
isolated not by choice, but by her fathers demands. Emilys society look upon her
with pity because she was a loner.
Faulkner in the beginning of the story uses Miss Emilys father as dominant
figure over her. Faulkner states that None of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such(2). Emilys father held her to such high standards that he never
let her date anyone in the town. Emily never gets an opportunity to have a normal life
growing up. Faulkner states
