Elie Weisel’s novel Night is a dramatic true-life story based upon his own experiences in a Nazi concentration camp as a teenager. While Jack London’s novel The Sea Wolf, on the other hand, is a historical fiction novel that is based on one man’s fictional adventure on a seal hunting schooner captained by one of the world’s most ruthless men. Even though these books differ heavily in content they are extremely similar when it comes to their purpose and the stylistic elements they use to achieve this purpose. Elie Weisel’s novel Night and Jack London’s novel The Sea Wolf were written with the same purpose of demonstrating how cruel and inhumane man can be to other man. Even though both of these novels are very different as far as genre and content, they use very similar stylistic elements to achieve an identical purpose.
