Moby Dick Intro Moby Dick by Herman Melville is a story about one ships crew and their efforts to find the great white whale Moby Dick. The story starts out when a Massachusetts schoolmaster ,Ishmael, decided to give up teaching to go and live his dream of whaling. Leaving Manhatto, he traveled to New Bedford where he would seek out work on a whaling ship. Body When he arrived in New Bedford he went out in search of a place to spend the night. After finding that most hotels where full he finally found one place, the Spouter Inn. He talked to the owner and found that he would have to share a room with someone else, he hesitated but took it because it was all he could find. He went to his room and started to go to sleep when a huge man covered from head to toe in tattoos came in. The man’s name was Queequeg, which after talking to him he found to be quite nice.
