Lord Of The Flies: Symbolism First: What the sow’s head symbolizes: The sow’s head symbolizes many things. One thing that it symbolizes is evil. I feel as though it symbolizes evil because it is for the beast, which is evil. Also it symbolizes evil because it on page 142 it states to Simon “ Fancy thinking you could hunt and kill! O You knew didn’t you' I’m part of you'” which to me means it is evil. Another thing that the sow’s head symbolizes is the meaning of the book. It symbolizes the meaning of the book because it is pronounced to be the Lord of the Flies on page 138. By pronouncing that it is the Lord of the Flies in my opinion it gives you some incite into the meaning of the book. The sow’s head also symbolizes power. It symbolizes power because after they hung the head on the stake the boys ran away as if it is was attacking them. Then the boys did not speak of it afterwards. Also the sow’s head symbolizes ritual. It symbolizes ritual in the way that every time the boys killed a pig they left flies, lord, symbolizes, head, because, conch, together, power, evil, boys, thing, sow’s, ritual, page, book, things, speak, meaning, home, came, blown, beast, way, sense, one, left, first, everyone, whatever, times, time, though, thinking, story, stop
