Catcher In The Rye When The Catcher in the Rye first came out, it was banned in all schools. The Catcher in the Rye was the worst book for schools because of its foul language, the sexual content and alcoholism. All of these played a role in banning the book from schools. Now, it is allowed back in to all schools. Holden uses foul language in the novel, which influences young adults. The way Holden talks about sexual intercourse in the novel gives people ideas. Holden talks about his double date with Stradlater and the moves Holden saw Stradlater do just to have sexual intercourse. All Stradlater talks about is sex. Holden gets a prostitute for himself, and he is only sixteen years old.
