The Letters of Abelard and Heloise
The relationship between Abelard and Heloise first started when Abelard first heard about Heloise. Heloise was the niece of Fulbert. Heloise was nearly as well known in Paris as Abelard was. She was renowned for her learning, which was exceptional in a women in the twelfth century France. Heloise was only 16 when she met Abelard. Abelard was drawn to her because of her exceptional education in letters. A gift for letters is so rare in women that it added greatly to her charm and had won her renown throughout the realm. (68) Before long, Abelard fell in love with something besides dialectic. Her uncle, Fulbert, hired Abelard to teach Heloise, and Abelard moved into Fulberts house. Heloise became excited about Abelards teachings and talents, and before long, she too was in love, with Abelard that is.
Because of Abelards new love for Heloise, he always wanted to write her love poems. He did not want to write lectures on dialectics anymore, and this was apparent to his students. One night while Abelard and Heloise were alone and making out, Fulbert caught both of them and kicked Abelard out of the house for good. After
