The Metamorphosis The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is about the ultimate betrayal and rejection of an individual by his family and the society. Before Gregor’s metamorphosis his life consisted of working and providing for his family. He worked as a travel sales man, working long hours which did not allow him to live his own life. Gregor did not like job because he could no longer tolerate his boss because he always disapprove of him in whatever he had done. The only reason why Gregor accepted his boss dissatisfaction were because his family had to pay off a debt. If it wasn’t for that he would have departed a long time ago. When Gregor awaked one morning he found out he was no longer a human being, but a monstrous vermin. In the beginning he thought it was a dream and if he were to go back to sleep he would be back to normal. However, this will be the day Gregor’s life changed forever. He was in a total state of shock wondering how would he manage going to work and facing his boss.
