Lies! Lies! Vicious Lies!
When you face the realization that you were just lied to, you can become very disheartened. But more often today lying is a common place act in our society. Many people have tried to analyze it or stop it. Your parents always told you to, tell the truth. Its a novel idea but never works out as well as it should. This is why Buller and Burgoon came up with the interpersonal deception theory.
The tradition that the theory stems from is the socio-psychological tradition ( Burgoon, Buller, White, Afifi, Buslig, 1999). The article continues to make very direct approaches to show how it is linked in this tradition. This theory is very blunt and to the point. It shows us that the practice of being truthful in our speech and every day lives is a rarity (Burgoon et al. 1999). I will be over viewing uncertainty and vagueness, withdrawal, disassociation, and relationship-protecting behaviors throughout the paper. Searching though the theory and applying it to everyday life, there are ways to find out when a person is not telling the truth.
