Disablities DISABILITIES After listening to all of the presentations that my peers have given I have decided that to me, the most interesting one to learn about was Disabilities in Psychology. The reason why I chose Disabilities was because I had an impression of what a disability was, and just by listening, I was proved wrong in a certain sense. My opinion of a disability was someone that either was missing a body part of some sort, or had mental problems. While I was right on thinking both those things, the main part of being disabled is basically what happens when you have a disability. Meaning, you become a social outcast. If someone were missing an arm or a leg you would automatically act differently towards him or her because this is the way our society thinks. When you see someone in a wheelchair, you always try to avoid making eye contact with him or her because you are afraid they will feel uncomfortable but really it is you who will feel uncomfortable and this just leads to them feeling the same way. One important fact I learned from this presentation was that most people have disabilities and don’t even know people, disability, disabilities, someone, disabled, because, way, one, minority, fact, about, uncomfortable, though, society, right, person, percentage, part, missing, listening, life, learn, just, important, feel, even, considered, become, young, years, year, yale, wrong, without, wish, whole
