Behavioral Approaches The school systems of the United States have passed through many stages of growth and evolution through the past couple of decades, along with their various counterparts of human society. With time came the construction of new laws, rules, regulations and codes of conduct on how to maintain the adolescent portion of society that is fortunate enough to attend a learning program. In these learning programs there are many methods of controlling violence. The first being behavioral methods and the second being cognitive methods. Behavioral methods deal with things like making a child do something for punishment or having some consequence. This is a good method in comparison to cognitive methods because the child is forced to do something they do not want to do. This reinforces because children will remember the consequence and won’t do the action that caused it. A good reason that behavioral methods are not put into use at schools is because of because of reactions of violence.
