Position Paper Term limits have provento be a valid and successful part of our government for nearly three centuries. The Constitution of the United States addresses this issue in firm response. The twenty-second Amendment of the Consitituion states: "...no person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice...". The document also addresses term limits on a local level, allowing each individual state to set their own limits. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Term limits abide by this principle as deemed by a Supreme Court ruling. The imposition of this jurisdiction has resulted in the successive progression of our nation thus far. Term limits allow society to advance smoothly into changing times as conveyed through the ideals of new leadership.
