Education Policy
This paper will compare the education policy initiatives in four states seeking to show the amount of legislation going into education. The four states reviewed are Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. The states researched are different in many ways and the same in others. The policies highlighted in each state show the importance of education to the constituents of the state. Let us take a closer look at the policies of these four southern states.
The State of Tennessee has a master plan for education in 2001, it is called "preparing for the 21st century" some of the policies include the following:
· Policy for Early Childhood Education and Parent Involvement (Revised 2000)
· Basic Education Program 2001-2002 (BEP). This is the funding program for most of the policies and enforcer of internal controls
· Tennessee Educational Administrator Licensure Standards
· Tennessee High School Policy
· Tennessee Middle Grades Policy
· Tennessee Minimum School Bus Standard
· Guidebook for Developing A School Earthquake Safety Program
· Alternative School Standards
These are a few of the recently approved board policies for the 2001 (Tennesseeanytime.org). The Board develops and adopts policies and standards consistent with the plan and approves rules and regulations for the governance of public schools. The research shows that
