Pirates Of The Us Naval Academy Currently all over the world the recording industry is undergoing a radical change in the way that they must market their music. With the rise of the information age, and the Internet it is becoming increasingly easy for people to obtain illegal copyrighted material. Although copying, or burning CD’s is a problem, it is dwarfed by the amount of people who download copyrighted MP3’s off the Internet. The places that are emerging as a hub for such illegal downloads is the modern universities of the world. With the simple click of a mouse a student at any university with a high-speed Internet connection can have just about any type of music he or she wants. While this may be convenient to the average poor college student, the record industry is having major problems with this due to a drop in sales. In this essay I will analyze an article that appeared in Wired News regarding the U.S. Naval Academy and their reaction to a letter that the Recording Industry Association of America sent out. I will be analyzing this with the help of Mill’s Sociological Imagination. mills, material, sociological, society, industry, out, internet, stealing, one, imagination, illegal, academy, while, schools, person, naval, file, copyrighted, victim, university, shachtman, recording, record, people, off, music, midshipmen, looking, indiana, computer, way, structure, sharing, questions, question
