George Washington The Life of George Washington On the battlefields of the Continental United States stood the British and American armies. The blood of thousands of soldiers was being shed all over American soil. In the midst of all the fighting stood one man, a man that struck a certain type of fear in his fellow Americans, George Washington. George was the son of Augustine Washington and his wife Mary. George was born on February 22, 1732. It was known that “little” George Washington was destined for greatness. Washington was a natural born leader as he grew to lead the continental army and went on to become the first president of the United States. There are very few things known about the early life of George Washington. Washington did not have such a great education as a child but still was able to grasp certain things. George had a nice stronghold for mathematics, surveying and art. George’s teaching ranged from men, as well as his love for the outdoors. George spent his early years living in Wakefield, Virginia. From ages three to six, The Washington’s lived in “ Little Hunting Creek” which later became known as Mount Vernon.
