Dylan Thomas Dylan Thomas Dylan Thomas was able to establish himself as a strong poet even though he only lived to the tender age of thirty-nine. Thomas struggled with many different evils throughout his life such as an abusive father, troubles in school, depression, poverty and severe alcoholism, which eventually killed him in 1953. Although considered controversial at times and unorthodox, his poetic genius has presently earned him a place in literary history.
