Beowulf demonstrates how a hero can achieve a sort of immortality even if he is doomed by fate to die in battle.
I would have to say that I agree with this statement even though there is really no hard proof of it. The reason I do agree though is that he seems to be immortal until he dies, so that had all the people believing that he was immortal. He knew that he would die, just like all of us, but he didnt have any idea when it would happen. He makes the people think he is immortal by the demons and beasts he had slayed. He also boasts to the people about the sea monster that drug him to the sea floor, but he still prevails against him. While telling this story he does make a statement that should convince everyone he is mortal, and the quote is, Fate often saves an undoomed man when his courage is good. This quote proves that he is mortal, but it just wasnt meant to be
