Oedipus The Flawed King Oedipus the Flawed King The town of Thebes has been struck by a plague, the citizens are dying and no one knows how to put an end to it. The people of Thebes call upon their king Oedipus to save the day. Oedipus understands that he has to do something and sends his brother-in-law and fellow ruler, Creon, to consult the Delphic oracle to find out how to end the plague. Creon returns and says that the murderer of Lauis, former king, must be driven out in order to end the plague. The actions that Oedipus takes from this point on shows how he is a flawed ruler. Oedipus calls upon the prophet Tiresias to answer who the killer of Lauis is.
